ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, June 16 (UPI) -- A bomb in a truck exploded, killing at least 25 people at a market in Landi Kotal in Pakistan's Khyber Agency Saturday, security and hospital officials said.

Officials said the target appeared to be a tribal leader aligned with the government against the Taliban, Geo News reported.

Hospital officials said more than 50 people were wounded.

No one has claimed responsibility.

"The blast was so powerful, it was heard far and wide and caused damage to nearby buildings," Sher Mohammad Shinwari, a resident, said, adding that most of the victims were fruit and vegetable sellers.
