HEREFORD, England, June 15 (UPI) -- An English funeral director was charged Friday with killing the wife he reported missing in January, police said.

John Taylor, 60, was to appear before a magistrate Saturday, the Halesowen News reported. He was arrested Tuesday for questioning.

Alethea Taylor, 63, was last seen Jan. 19 in Orleton, the village in Herefordshire where she and her husband lived and where he operates John Taylor Funeral Services. Her husband told police she was becoming vague and sometimes wandered off.

Police officers who searched for Alethea Taylor have found no sign of her or her body.

This week, investigators searched two houses Taylor owns in neighboring Shropshire, the Shropshire Star reported.

Alethea Taylor taught elementary school for 40 years.
