Ex-president's niece a drug kingpin?

BOGOTA, June 13 (UPI) -- The Colombian justice minister said the reputed mistress of former President Alvaro Uribe's brother will be sent to the United States soon.

But Juan Carlos Esguerra said he does not know of any extradition request for Dolly Cifuentes Villa's daughter, Ana Maria Uribe Cifuentes, Colombia Reports said.

"Maybe it exists, but I don't know about it," Esguerra said.

Cifuentes, 48, and her 31-year-old daughter are allegedly part of the Cifuentes Villa clan, which is accused of shipping tons of cocaine to the United States. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration says the pair have close ties to Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, head of the Mexican Sinaloa cartel.

Alvaro Uribe said Sunday his brother, Jaime, who died in 2001, had no ties to the late Pablo Escobar or other drug kingpins. Uribe also said his brother was faithful to his wife and denied Cifuentes was his mistress and Uribe Cifuentes his daughter.

Nuevo Arco Iris, a Colombian political research center, said it has obtained a copy of Uribe Cifuentes' birth certificate that lists Jaime Uribe as her father, The Guardian reported.
