Serbian lawyer attacked with acid in face

BELGRADE, Serbia, June 9 (UPI) -- Serbian lawyers Saturday condemned the attack on a Belgrade attorney who was burned by acid poured on his face.

The Bar Association of Belgrade called on police to track down the assailants who jumped lawyer Nenad Vukasovic, who had defended the convicted killer of a parliament member.

B92 said two masked assailants attacked Vukasovic in his office Friday night. The pair allegedly gave Vukasovic a concussion and also caused damage to his eyes with acid before fleeing in a car without license plates driven by a third suspect.

Details of Vukasovic's condition and prognosis were not immediately announced.

Vukasovic has been active in politically charged criminal cases, including the attempted murder of Vuk Draskovic, the leader of the Serbian Renewal Movement. He also defended members of the Special Operations Unit, B92 said.
