At least 30 dead in Pakistan bus crash

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan, June 4 (UPI) -- A bus carrying a wedding party crashed into a mountain ravine after making a sharp turn near Panjir, Pakistan, killing at least 30 people, authorities said.

The bus was traveling from Chakwal to Kahuta, Express News reported Monday.

The official Associated Press of Pakistan said at least 80 people were on the bus when it plunged into the ravine. Express News estimated the number of passengers at more than 150.

Rescue efforts were hampered by darkness and the steep terrain. An unknown number of injured were taken to hospitals in Kahuta and Rawalpindi.
