Reports were conflicted in identifying the number of deaths, with one report saying four police officers and one civilian died, and other reports indicating five police officers died.

Officials said the bomber also died, China's state-run news agency Xinhua said.

Khaama Press said no one so far claimed responsibility for the incident.

In another attack, the chief of an anti-terror department and three bodyguards were killed when a roadside bomb detonated as they were going to work in Dasht-e-Archi district in Kunduz province, officials said.
