Dad who drowned sons gets death penalty

ANKARA, Turkey, May 29 (UPI) -- Turkey arrested six former generals Tuesday for their part in a 1997 coup that forced the resignation of the country's civilian government, prosecutors said.
The six were among 10 suspects prosecutors referred to Ankara's 12th High Criminal Court for approval of arrest warrants, Today's Zaman reported.
The suspects are all accused of playing a major role in a plot by the Turkish military that forced a coalition government out of power.
The probe into the Feb. 28, 1997, intervention has reached into the highest echelons of former members of the Turkish Armed Forces.
Among those named for arrest was former National Security Council Secretary-General Ilhan Kilic.
