Brothers accused of Danish terror plot

AARHUS, Denmark, May 29 (UPI) -- A terror attack was thwarted in Denmark with the arrest of two brothers accused of having links to the Somali terror group al-Shabaab, officials said.

The two men, who are of Somali-descent, were arrested Monday night. One was arrested in Aarhus and the other at Copenhagen Airport, The Copenhagen Post reported. They were to be arraigned on formal charges Tuesday.

One of the men is believed to have received training from al-Shabaab in Somalia.

Hans Jorgen Bonnichsen, former head of the Danish Intelligence and Security Service, known by the Danish acronym PET, said it is the first time alleged terrorists with professional training have been arrested in Denmark, Politiken newspaper reported.
