SEOUL, May 29 (UPI) -- A former South Korean national soccer team player and a former pro baseball player were arrested after allegedly kidnapping a woman, police said.
Yonhap news agency said the 28-year-old former soccer team member was identified only by his surname, Kim. The former baseball player was not identified.
The two men, who were arrested Saturday, are suspected of stopping a Mercedes Benz driven by a woman in her 40s, then kidnapping her and taking her car in south Seoul, Yonhap News Agency reported.
Yonhap didn't say how the men stopped the car.
Police said the woman escaped when the car slowed, then got into a cab, chased the suspects and reported the kidnapping to police.
After she fled, the suspects ran away, and police caught them nearby, police said.
Police said the suspects were planning to collect ransom to pay interest on loans on a business investment.
