Arab News said Friday that as required by the law 10 MPs filed a motion against Finance Minister Mustafa al Shamali over alleged irregularities in the ministry -- the minister is accused of embezzlement and mismanagement of public funds -- which was subsequently endorsed by 33 lawmakers
Under the Parliament's by-laws, a no-confidence vote takes place eight days after the filing of the motion and a dismissal requires the support of 25 lawmakers.
Arab News said Friday the MPs claimed Shamali disregarded the law on several occasions and squandered billions of dollars in public funds by accommodating influential business figures.
