KHUTRAKH, Russia, May 25 (UPI) -- Six people were injured in a fire in a Russian village, while 200 people were evacuated from their homes, officials said.

The fire broke out in the village Khutrakh in the highland Tsunta district of Dagestan Thursday, RIA Novosti reported.

Six people, not seven people as reported earlier, were injured in the fire, officials said.

"Six people got light burns. They are local residents, who were seeking to put out the fire," the press service of the North Caucasus regional emergency situation center told ITAR-Tass.

"The fire is localized, 60 houses were damaged in the flames. Some 560 people, including over 100 children, live in 142 houses in this settlement," the press service said.

About 200 people were evacuated to their relatives to the neighboring villages of Shapikh and Mokokh.

Firefighters were in the village working to quell the flames, officials said, adding that Khutrakh is the most difficult village to access in the Tsunta district.

"The settlement is situated at an altitude of 1,800 meters [5,905 feet] above the sea level. Thick clouds did not allow using the aviation for fire-fighting," the information department in the Ministry of Emergency Situations told ITAR-Tass on Thursday.

"The closest highland river is situated 1.5 kilometers [about a mile] away from the village," the information department said.
