Israel turning over terrorists' bodies

May 23, 2012 at 5:09 PM   |   Comments

JERUSALEM, May 23 (UPI) -- Israel is turning over to the Palestinian Authority the bodies of 130 Palestinian terrorists in a gesture to PA President Mahmoud Abbas, Israeli media reported.

Ynetnews.com said Israel has begun turning over the bodies and may complete the process this week.

The Israeli government told defense officials last week to prepare for the transfer of the bodies of terrorists buried in Israel, Ynetnews said.

The transfer apparently had been discussed during a meeting between Yitzhak Molcho, an envoy for Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, and Abbas.

"Israel and the Palestinian Authority are committed to achieving peace and the sides hope that an exchange of letters between [Abbas] and Prime Minister Netanyahu will be beneficial," a joint statement after the Molcho-Abbas meeting said.
