SANAA, Yemen, May 21 (UPI) -- Gunmen opened fire on a car carrying three American military trainers in Yemen's western seaport of Hodeida, causing minor injuries, officials said.

The car was attacked Sunday outside the al-Hodeida Land Resort, officials told al-Masdar online.

Police officers apprehended one of the attackers, the Yemen Post reported.

The Americans work with Yemeni Coastal Guard units in Hodeida, Mareb Press reported.

Officials told Mareb Press the gunmen apparently were linked to al-Qaida.
