Antonio Cejudo, who had worked for the Spanish embassy for two years, was kidnapped Thursday by gunmen, the diplomat told the Yemen Post.
Authorities are still assessing the situation, waiting for investigators to file their reports and for the potential kidnappers to issue demands, Mareb Press reported Monday.
Cejudo's brother rejected the possibility of a kidnapping in a blog posting, saying it seemed unthinkable.
