JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia, May 19 (UPI) -- Saudi authorities beheaded a man convicted of murdering a Bangladeshi national, the Interior Ministry said in a press statement.
A Bangladeshi national was killed by Sultan al-Shali, a Saudi national, by a blow to the head after the latter tried to rob him, a judge ruled. Shali was executed Thursday.

Al-Shali was also convicted of stabbing a bystander in the attempted robbery turned murder.
With a criminal justice system based on Shariah law (Islamic legal system) Saudi Arabia continues to practice the death penalty despite outcries from right groups such as Amnesty International.
