SANAA, Yemen, May 15 (UPI) -- Yemeni authorities said Information Minister Ali Amrani was targeted by al-Qaida militants when a bomb exploded at his residence.
It was the second time al-Qaida gunmen had targeted Amrani's house this year, without injuring the minister, Mareb Press said. The report said officials and foreign diplomats also had been identified as potential targets by the Central Security Forces.
Bikyamasr.com reported al-Qaida elements had infiltrated Sanaa and planned further bomb attacks in retaliation against the armed forces' assault of their positions in the southern province of Abyan.
