5 die in bus crash in Italy

PADUA, Italy, May 6 (UPI) -- A bus carrying 23 retired police officers and family members for a reunion crashed in Italy Saturday, killing five of them, authorities said.

The Italian news agency Agenzia Giornalistica Italia reported the accident occurred on the A13 highway when the driver lost control and the bus tumbled down an embankment. There was no sign of braking and no guardrail on that stretch of roadway, police said.

The other 18 people on board were injured.
