KABUL, Afghanistan, April 27 (UPI) -- A uniformed Afghan gunman and national police clashed with coalition forces in separate incidents this week and at least three people died, officials said.

In one incident, U.S. military officials said in a statement, a coalition soldier died when a man dressed in an Afghan National Army uniform opened fire on NATO troops in southern Afghanistan, The New York Times reported Friday.

The statement said coalition forces killed the attacker.

In a second incident, two police officers were killed and two NATO troops wounded when fighting broke out between Afghan National Police and coalition soldiers near Kandahar, a spokesman for Kandahar province's governor said.

In what officials said was an unrelated incident, three coalition service members were killed by a roadside bomb Thursday in eastern Afghanistan, U.S. officials said.
