DHANA GHOORI, Afghanistan, April 24 (UPI) -- Afghan authorities said heavy flooding killed seven people and caused widespread property damage in the Dhana Ghoori district of the Baghlan province.

In addition to the fatalities, flooding destroyed some 63 residential homes, roughly 1,500 acres of agricultural lands, 6 water dams and 11 mills, said Dr. Hamid Neyazi of Red Crescent Society of Baghlan.

Neyazi told Bakhtar News Agency damaged areas have been provided with foodstuffs and other essentials. The last three days have seen heavy floods throughout Borka, Nahreen, Doshi and Tala-wa-Barfak. The extent of the damage to those areas is not yet known.
