CALGARY, Alberta, April 21 (UPI) -- A Canadian Web site that provides information on the whereabouts of convicted pedophiles is now up and running.

StopPediophiles.ca went live Friday, the Calgary Sun reported. Canada Family Action, which runs the site, says it gathers information from public sources for the site.

"Once you commit that kind of a crime, in fact once you commit any crime, you become a public figure," said Brian Rushfeldt, the group's president. "That's just the reality."

The site also lists resources available for treatment for offenders and for victims and their families.

Glori Meldrum, who was molested as a child and founded the advocacy group Little Warriors, said pedophiles have more resources in Canada than their victims. She said Calgary and Edmonton each have three rehabilitation centers for offenders and none for the abused children.

"Currently in this country they have more rights than the kids do," she said. "They're the ones that committed the crime."
