At least one dead in Egypt oil fire

SUEZ, Egypt, April 15 (UPI) -- At least one firefighter is dead and several others injured in a fire that engulfed a major Egyptian oil company, firefighters said.

The fire broke out Saturday evening at one of the oil tanks at Nasr Oil Company in Suez, Ahram Online reported Sunday. The cause of the blaze is unknown and employee Adel Mekawy told the news Web site all safety measures were being followed at the oil company.

An unreported number of oil workers, police officers and firefighters were injured in the blaze. Officials estimate the financial losses to be more than $1.6 million.
