Afghans carry out nine raids

KABUL, Afghanistan, April 14 (UPI) -- Afghan police and soldiers carried out nine coordinated raids in 24 hours that resulted in the killing of 14 Taliban militants, officials said Saturday.

The raids also led to the arrest of 18 insurgents, while 34 were wounded, Khaama Press reported. They were carried out in the provinces of Nangarhar, Kunduz, Badakhshan, Kandahar, Ghazni, Maidan Wardak, Khost and Paktia, the Interior Ministry announced.

Police also seized 11 weapons, 22 rounds of heavy ammunition, 14 landmines, a rocket-propelled grenade, about 35 pounds of explosives and four vehicles, three of them motorcycles.
