Dad who drowned sons gets death penalty

MADRID, April 10 (UPI) -- The teenage grandson of Spain's King Juan Carlos was hospitalized after accidentally shooting himself in the foot with a shotgun, officials say.
Juan Froilan, 13, was practicing shooting at the family farm in Soria Monday when the gun accidentally went off, injuring his foot, the royal family said in a statement.
Froilan remained under observation at Hospital Quiron in Madrid after his wounds were surgically cleaned at a local hospital, ThinkSpain reported.
Under Spanish law, children under 14 are prohibited from handling firearms, even air rifles. Despite the fact Froilan wounded himself with a gun typically used for hunting small game, the royal family could be subject to a fine up to about $800.
