Blast killed motorcycle union members

KADUNA, Nigeria, April 10 (UPI) -- An Easter suicide bombing at a restaurant in Kaduna, Nigeria, killed more than 100 members of a commercial motorcycle union, a spokesman for the group said.

Nasir Mamman told the Nigerian Tribune his organization has called an emergency meeting to discuss the attack that occurred Sunday near the Ahmadu Bello Stadium.

Mamman said there was speculation some members of the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association may have been involved in the bombing.

He said his group wants the government to help screen potential members.

"We have submitted this proposal to sanitize the union," Mamman said, "We just don't want anyone to come into the trade just like that."

There has been no official confirmation by police of the number of deaths in Sunday's bombing.
