Bruni-Sarkozy moves in Paris in disguise

PARIS, April 6 (UPI) -- France's first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy says she sometimes moves about Paris in disguise to avoid the crowd of photographers and reporters following her.

Bruni-Sarkozy admitted trying to elude the media after U.S. first lady Michelle Obama said she goes on "covert" shopping trips to try to mingle with the American people, Britain's The Daily Telegraph reported Thursday.

Bruni-Sarkozy said she's pretty good at disguising her features.

"Recently, I had my handbag searched in the Musee de la Marine (Marine museum)" in Paris, she said.

"With a wig on, nobody recognizes me in the metro," she said.

Bruni-Sarkozy's revelation comes as her husband, President Nicolas Sarkozy, faces re-election April 22.

The former model said she became adept at disguising her looks during her liaison with Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, who was married.
