BRUSSELS, April 2 (UPI) -- More than 480 peace activists were arrested after trying to storm NATO headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, officials said.

About 500 peace activists from 11 European countries turned out for the "NATO Game Over" action Sunday, and 483 were arrested, Voice of Russia reported.

Activists tried to climb a railing around the headquarters so they could hang padlocks on the doors of NATO headquarters.

"Let members of the NATO summit in Chicago, in May, know that we are against missile-defense plans for Europe, NATO troops in Libya and Afghanistan and useless nuclear weapons in Europe," an organizer told journalists.
