MIRANSHAH, Pakistan, March 30 (UPI) -- A U.S. drone strike killed four militants in the northwestern tribal region of Pakistan near the Afghan border, a Pakistani military official said Friday.
The attack hit a building in Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan, in a tribal region believed to be a haven for the Haqqani insurgent network, CNN reported.
"Two missiles hit a house and four militants were killed," a security official told South Asian News Agency. "The attack took place at about 3 am."
Witnesses told the South Asian News Agency the strike destroyed the building, which was located in the commercial district in the money changers market.
Pakistan's lawmakers are debating a recommendation that the United States end its drone attacks inside Pakistan's territory and apologize for a drone airstrike Nov. 24 that killed two dozen Pakistani soldiers. The committee requested that the United States publicly apologize for last year's strike.
