Toulouse shooter to be buried in France

TOULOUSE, France, March 29 (UPI) -- Officials say Mohamed Merah, the Algerian man who went on a shooting spree last week in Toulouse, France, will not be buried in Algeria, but in France.

The Algerian government refused a request by Merah's family to have him buried in his homeland, and instead, he will be buried in the Muslim section of the Toulouse's Cornebarrieu cemetery.

Merah, 23, killed three Jewish schoolchildren, a teacher and three soldiers. After a 32-hour stakeout, police shot him to death in his apartment last Thursday.

Radio France Internationale reported Abdallah Zekri of the Paris Grand Mosque has been asked by Merah's family to organize the funeral.
