Salehi made the statements shortly after Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Tehran to discuss the issue and ways of boosting bilateral cooperation between the two countries, the agency said.

The Islamic Republic held two rounds of talks on its nuclear program in 2010 and 2011.

During the two-day visit, Erdogan will meet with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and other senior Iranian officials, the Turkish daily Today's Zaman said. The talks with the Iranian president are also expected to touch on the situation in Syria and Iraq, the daily said.

The daily noted Iran is seeking to expand cooperation with Turkey despite sanctions imposed by the West.
