VANCOUVER, British Columbia, March 28 (UPI) -- Two Canadian albinos in British Columbia have filed a human rights complaint over a restaurant chain's beer called "Albino Rhino."
The news of the complaint to the provincial Human Rights Commission emerged Tuesday, although it was filed in late January, The (Vancouver) Province reported.
Ikponwosa Loretta Ero and Peter Ash, who both have albinism, allege the name of the beer sold by Earls Restaurants is "demeaning and humiliating" to those who have the rare and debilitating condition of appearing white and colorless.
The chain recently introduced "Albino Chicken Wings" as well.
"People aren't allowed to order Alzheimer's appetizers, multiple sclerosis martinis and cerebral palsy cocktails, so why should they be able to order albino chicken wings?" Ash told Postmedia News.
Earls Vice President Mark Barry said in a statement the chain will fight to keep the beer's name, as it has been marketing it for 25 years without complaints.
No date had been set for the rights tribunal hearing, the reports said.
