The National Commission for Child Protection in Pasar Rebo admitted the Indonesian child to the center, where he will stay for a month, The Jakarta Post reported.

"This is our attempt to save children from nicotine addiction," said Arist Merdeka Sirait, head of the commission.

"We will provide medical checkups and better foster care," said Adrialti Syamsul, head of a health facility in Sukabumi, the boy's hometown.

Two years ago, videos of 2- and 4-year-old Indonesian boys smoking created an international stir.
