DAMASCUS, Syria, March 18 (UPI) -- Another car bomb rocked a Syrian city Sunday after rebels blamed the government for allegedly setting off two other blasts the previous day.

The latest explosion occurred near a security service office in Aleppo, Syria's largest city, and left two dead and 30 injured, the official SANA news agency said.

State television blamed the explosion on shadowy outsiders while anti-government activists told CNN the government was attempting to make it appear that the popular uprising had turned into a terrorism campaign.

The New York Times said the car bombings occurred in cities that generally support President Bashar Assad and stoked fears that the uprising had attracted elements who were not under the control of either the government or the rebels.

The explosion Sunday occurred at the same time mourners gathered in Damascus for the burial of some of the 27 people killed by two bombings in the capital the previous day. Police broke up the march when participants began chanting slogans calling for regime change, witnesses said.
