The International Security Assistance Force Joint Command said two of those captured were planning attacks against Afghan and coalition forces and were responsible for past attacks along Highway 2. The others provided weapons and ammunition to insurgents and conducted roadside-bomb and direct-fire attacks in Maidan Shahr district.

A Taliban leader and a second suspect were detained in the Lashkar Gah district of Helmand province, and several suspects with suspected links to the Taliban were detained in Marjah district.

Mortar rounds were seized and a Haqqani network leader was arrested in the Bak district of Khost province, and two suspects were attested in the Zurmat district of Paktia province.
