CALGARY, Alberta, March 6 (UPI) -- A 29-year-old Alberta man faces 14 charges related to impaired driving after a road crash north of Calgary that killed four temporary immigrant workers.
A car carrying two men and three women from the Philippines was struck head-on Sunday night by a Range Rover traveling north in the southbound lanes, the Calgary Herald said. One woman survived and was in serious condition Tuesday, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp reported.
The immigrants all worked for an Edmonton hotel, the reports said.
Tyler Stevens was charged by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police with four counts of impaired driving causing death; one count of impaired driving causing bodily harm; four counts of failing to provide a breath sample after a collision resulting in death; four counts of criminal negligence causing death and one count of criminal negligence causing bodily harm.
Another unidentified driver told Global TV he had to swerve to avoid being hit by a Range Rover about 15 minutes before the deadly crash.
