ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, March 5 (UPI) -- The Pakistani military said Monday it had successfully test-fired a nuclear-capable, short-range, surface-to-surface ballistic missile.

The Press Trust of India news agency, quoting the military, said the Hatf-2 missile, with a range of 180 kilometers (112 miles), can carry nuclear and conventional warheads with "high accuracy" and can hit targets in India.

The test was part of the process of validating Pakistan's land-based missile systems, PTI reported, quoting the military.
