Police bust Romanian sex trafficking ring

GOTHENBURG, Sweden, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- Swedish authorities arrested and charged six men Wednesday suspected of operating a sex trafficking ring that brought in young women from Romania.

Prosecutors say the alleged ring is one of the largest of its kind uncovered in Sweden.

After 255 men were fined for buying sex in Gothenburg last year, police investigated further and found alleged links to a Romanian operation bringing mostly 18-year-old women into Sweden.

The Swedish news agency TT reported investigators traveled to Romania to search for the ring's big players. Six people were arrested.
