LINFEN, China, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Four miners were killed when a coal mine roof collapsed in northern China's Shanxi province, authorities said Sunday.

The accident happened around 1 p.m. Sunday in the Beiyu Coal Mine in Puxian county in the city of Linfen, Xinhua reported.

Seven miners were trapped in the shaft, said a spokesman with the county government.

Rescuers were searching for the remaining three miners, the news agency said.
