DSK faces questions about call-girl racket

LILLE, France, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- Former International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn will face questioning regarding his alleged involvement in a prostitution ring, police say.

Strauss-Kahn will be summoned for questioning Tuesday and can be held without charges for up to 48 hours, the BBC reported Saturday.

The questioning involves a prostitution ring centered around luxury hotels in the city of Lille. Strauss-Kahn's lawyers have said he was under the impression he was attending swingers parties and was not aware prostitutes were involved, the BBC said.

Solicitation of prostitutes is not illegal in France, however it is illegal to supply them to others. Since Strauss-Kahn was still IMF chief at the time, it would also have been illegal for him to accept gifts from a company as an official.

Strauss-Kahn resigned from his post at the IMF last May after accusations he raped a New York hotel chambermaid. He faces a civil suit in the case, although criminal charges have been dropped, Radio France Internationale reported.
