Egyptians more likely to vote in election

CAIRO, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- A Gallup poll indicates Egyptians are now more likely to cast their votes in presidential elections than they were prior to parliamentary elections.

When surveyed in December, 86 percent of Egyptians said they intended to vote in the presidential election, up from 79 percent before November's parliamentary elections.

In what Gallup attributes to a bolstered faith in the electoral process, 88 percent of Egyptians say they believe the election will be fair and honest. While 55 percent were not sure which candidate they would vote for, 17 percent intend to vote for Amr Moussa, former secretary-general of the Arab League.

The survey was conducted between Dec. 16 and 23, and 1,077 adults above the age of 15 were questioned face-to-face, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.4 percentage points.
