Several bombing attacks west of the capital in and around the city of Fallujah were also reported.

Four people died in a roadside bombing that targeted a leader of a local Awakening Council. The groups are predominantly Sunni Muslims who dropped support of the al-Qaida terror movement in 2006. A woman and a child were among the fatalities in the attack on the unidentified local leader, police said.

In downtown Fallujah, a bomb attached to a civilian car exploded Saturday night, killing one civilian and critically injured a second, the report said.
