First Minister Alex Salmond, in an interview Thursday night, said he expects wind farms and other forms of renewable energy to bring an economic boost to Scotland, The Guardian reported.
"Just about everybody will get on board, even Donald Trump," Salmond said.
Trump has promised to launch an international fight against the wind farm and Scotland's other wind energy projects and attacked Salmond for supporting it.
"With the reckless installation of these monsters, you will single-handedly have done more damage to Scotland than virtually any event in Scottish history," Trump said in a letter to the first minister.
A government spokesman said Scotland should be able to generate about 25 percent of Europe's wind energy -- enough to power the country many times over by 2050. RenewablesUK said there is no evidence wind farms hurt tourism.
"We think his concerns are probably not merited, unless he's going to put his golf course on the water, which seems unlikely," the group said.
