LONDON, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- A British actor and a member of Parliament are among the latest people to settle damage claims in Britain's phone-hacking scandal, court records indicate.
News Group Newspapers, publisher of the defunct News of the World, settled 15 claims Wednesday in high court in London ahead of trials due to begin next week, Britain's The Guardian reported.
The latest plaintiffs to settle include actor Steve Coogan and Liberal Democrat MP Simon Hughes. Coogan will receive $63,579 while Hughes settled for $71,525.
Also in the group were former Prime Minister Tony Blair aide Alastair Campbell, athletes' agent Sky Andrew and former England soccer player Paul Gascoigne.
The case involving singer Charlotte Church remains unsettled, lawyers said. That case is scheduled to go to trial.
Britain's phone hacking scandal erupted last year after it was learned that employees of News of the World accessed the voice mail of a missing schoolgirl who was later found killed.
