Baghdad bomb attack kills 31, wounds 60

BAGHDAD, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- A suicide bomb attack on a Shiite funeral procession in Baghdad Friday killed 31 people and wounded 60 others, police officials said.

Mourners were attacked while they passed an outdoor market on their way to a hospital in the Zafarniya district to recover the bodies of three people shot the night before, CNN reported.

Iraqi authorities said Iraqi Col. Norman Dahil may have been targeted in the bombing. He escaped unharmed. His brother was one of the men killed the previous night.

At least 200 people have died in Iraqi violence since the beginning of the year, CNN said.
