Bombs kill Iraqi police officers, family

BAGHDAD, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Nine people, including two infants, were killed Thursday when bombs exploded around the home of two Iraqi police officers, officials said.

No group claimed responsibility for the early morning attack in Hamia, about 30 miles south of Baghdad. The Washington Post said Iraqi police have been targeted recently by terrorists who consider police to be agents of the government.

The two officers, who are brothers, were among those killed in the attack.

Also Thursday, at least six people were injured or killed in Kirkuk when a motorcycle exploded, the al-Sumaria news Web site reported.
