REGGIO CALABRIA, Italy, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Italian police arrested six members of the Calabrian 'Ndrangheta mafia who faked depression to stay out of jail.

'Ndrangheta boss Giuseppe Pelle, 53, his son Antonio, 25, and his wife Marianna Barbaro, 45, were among those arrested, Italy's ANSA news agency reported.

Two doctors and a lawyer were also arrested for providing the bosses with falsified documents saying they were suffering from psychiatric conditions "incompatible with detention," police said Friday.
