Prince Philip resumes public schedule

CAMBRIDGE, England, Jan. 18 (UPI) -- Prince Philip of Britain attended a dinner Tuesday in Cambridge, his first public appearance since he was hospitalized with a heart attack at Christmastime.

The 90-year-old Duke of Edinburgh, husband of Queen Elizabeth, was greeted by photographers outside Corpus Christi College, Sky News reported. He looked healthy and relaxed.

The dinner, to raise money for the Scott Polar Research Institute at Cambridge University, was held on the 100th anniversary of Capt. Robert Scott's arrival at the South Pole. Other attendees included Scott's granddaughters, Dafila Scott and Nicola Stark, Prince Albert of Monaco and the British explorer Ranulph Fiennes.

The royal couple have been spending the time since he was released from Papworth Hospital in Cambridge at Sandringham House in Norfolk. He attended a church service New Year's Day.

The Sun reported Tuesday that the prince's doctors have ordered him to give up hunting. He announced shortly before his 90th birthday last year that he was cutting back on public engagements and charity work.
