French first lady to help on campaign

PARIS, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy says she is ready and willing to help with her husband President Nicolas Sarkozy's campaign for re-election.

"If my husband is candidate for the presidential elections, I will take part as much as possible," Bruni-Sarkozy said.

Sarkozy has yet to officially confirm whether he will run in this year's presidential elections, thelocal.fr reported Friday.

Bruni-Sarkozy has denied knowing if her husband will run for president again, saying she doesn't "know what the future holds."

"I will stand by my husband whatever he decides. I don't know what I'll do, but if he needs me, I'll be there," she said.
