MONTERREY, Mexico, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- Six people were killed and more than 35 were injured when a fire tore through the office of a furniture factory in Monterrey, Mexico, officials said.

Some 400 people are employed at Famsa furniture makers, El Universal reported Thursday.

The fire, which broke out at noon Wednesday, destroyed the fourth floor of the building. Four people died of smoke inhalation and two deaths appeared to be caused by burns.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, officials said.
