6 soccer players die in Togo bus crash

LOME, Togo, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- A bus crash in Togo killed six soccer players and injured 25 other people, an official said.

CNN reported the players were members of the Etoile Filante soccer club.

Aime Ekpe, spokesman for Togo's soccer federation, told the U.S. news network it was suspected a flat tire caused the bus to flip over and catch fire.

The team was on its way to Sokode for a Sunday game when the accident occurred at Glei, about 81 miles north of Togo's capital, Lome.

"Twenty-five others, including some players, are severely injured," Ekpe said.
