PAISLEY, Scotland, Nov. 18 (UPI) -- A 23-year-old British man died after being crushed by a cow carcass that fell on him at the Scottish slaughterhouse where he worked, officials said.

The man, who was not identified by authorities, died in a hospital from head injuries, The Daily Telegraph reported Friday.

The accident occurred Thursday at the Sandyford abattoir in Paisley, Renfrewshire.

A spokesman for the abattoir, which slaughters cattle and sheep for meat wholesalers and individual butchers, said the company was unable to comment on the incident while it remains under investigation.
